RVA: Mappy Hour Riverrock Recap

Written by Michael Jefferson

This past week, amidst the rain and flood, the city of Richmond partied on. Yep, that’s right, a little rain doesn’t scare us. Last week was Richmond’s annual outdoor festival Dominion Riverrock and Mappy Hour took part in the action. Sierra Nevada Brewing hosted us for three days of festivities. We kicked off Riverrock with a Mappy Hour meet up and the 5points festival. The film festival featured the 2018 award-winning films outdoor festival in Carbondale, CO.

Friday night I spent some time with the crew from Sierra Nevada under the shelter of their tent. I got to learn about the amazing company they work for, the origins of Sierra Nevada, and how excited they are to be working with Mappy Hour.

Fast forward to Saturday evening, Sierra Nevada hosted us for a Mappy Hour featuring Brian Bell from Keep Virginia Cozy. That evening we learned the importance of stewardship and how we as a community play a key roll in keeping our outdoor spaces clean. Sierra Nevada Brewing feels the same way. They attribute much of their success to the practice of good stewardship and the engagement of the community around them.

If you have a desire to get involved in keeping our outdoor spaces clean and cozy, visit  Keep Virginia Cozy to learn about volunteer opportunities.

Shout out to everyone that came out in the rain to support Mappy Hour and Keep Virginia Cozy. A special thanks to the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company for hosting us. Check out their website to learn more about the work they are doing.

Cheers
