DRM: Local Knowledge at Sam’s Quik Stop with Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.

Mappy Hour Durham gathered in the quiet, laid-back atmosphere of Sam’s Quik Stop. Sitting around a table and sipping Sierra Nevada’s made it easy to chat. Chapter leader Joseph started the night with his signature nature mystery 6-pack featuring Pokeweed, a “mysterious” berry that grows everywhere in the area.

The night highlighted local members including a mycophile talking about consuming wild mushrooms and Chelsea from the EPA who showed everyone how citizens could use Geospacial Information Systems (GIS) to look up different sets of data in their neighborhood, including which direction raindrops would flow once they hit the ground.
