They advocate for clean river communities and work with fellow Waterkeepers in the Chesapeake Bay Region to protect the waterways and stop pollution.<\/p>\n<p>Trey taught us about the how Anacostia Riverkeeper works to mitigate stormwater runoff, cleans up trash, and protects the river with advocacy efforts to clean up toxic \u201chot spots\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Special thanks to Trey, Anacostia Riverkeeper, Filson and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.!<\/p>\n<h3>Explore the River<\/h3>\n<h4><strong>Fishing<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Friday Night Fishing! Catch-and-release family-friendly&nbsp;fishing&nbsp;Friday&#8217;s June through August.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Kayaking<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Thursday night kayak tours of the Anacostia basin are throughout the summer. Email info@anacostiariverkeeper.org for more information.<\/p>\n<h4>Anacostia River Explorers Boat Tours<\/h4>\n<p>Get an up-close look at the Anacostia River with a free educational boat tour. Tours run April through November. Email info@anacostiariverkeeper.org for private groups and specific dates.<\/p>\n<p>Join Mappy Hour\u2019s upcoming boat tours! Sign up at the March Mappy Hour or online in April.<\/p>\n<h3>Get Involved<\/h3>\n<h4>Citizen Science: Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring<\/h4>\n<p>Starting in May 2019, citizens across DC will conduct weekly water quality monitoring. Volunteers can sign up to help monitor, transport samples or conduct recreational surveys.
