Today we\u2019re excited to share a brand new partnership between Mappy Hour and <\/span>The North Face<\/span><\/a>. Together, we\u2019re creating meet-ups, adventure guides, and a multi-month challenge to support urban dwelling outdoor enthusiasts across the country exploring our local backyards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the next 12 months, we\u2019ll be teaming up with The North Face to host dozens of events in stores from New York City to Denver to Chicago featuring inspiring speakers, local organizations, and skills to get outdoors. Breweries with connections to the community will be featured at each event including Crazy Mountain Brewery<\/a> in Denver, Revolution Brewery<\/a> in Chicago and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co<\/a>. in New York City. <\/span><\/p>\n

Our first events are September 18 in Denver<\/a>, September 24 in NYC<\/a> and September 26 in Chicago<\/a> and will feature North Face athletes Matty Hong and Cedar Wright. <\/span><\/p>\n

The events will also provide a space for local Mappy Hour members to find new adventure partners to explore the great outdoors with. With additional support from the North Face, our chapter leaders have been busy creating Explore More Guides to lead the way. These guides will outline 10 local adventures that can be done in an afternoon, day or weekend near their city. <\/span><\/p>\n

The first guide to explorations near New York City<\/a> is live today<\/strong> and highlights 10 ways you can find adventure near the Big Apple. <\/span><\/p>\n

Members are all invited to participate in the associated Explore More Challenge presented by The North Face. (Huge shoutout to Chapter Leader Liz in Denver for first coming up with a prototype called The Colorado Challenge!)<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the Explore More Challenge?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Explore More Challenge is a multi-month challenge that rewards you for going outside with new Mappy Hour friends. Each participating chapter will launch a guide with 10 challenges that can range from exploring your city to finding further afield outdoor gems in your state. Each adventure (selected by your chapter leaders) will hold a point value. Mappy Hour members will compete to complete the challenges (aka go outside!). <\/span><\/p>\n

For example:<\/span><\/p>\n

The Explore More Challenge in NYC awards 10 points for surfing in Queens and 15 points for hiking the Presidential Traverse in the White Mountains. New Yorkers who get 60 amount of points have officially completed the challenge.<\/span><\/p>\n

The North Face is further supporting this new program<\/span> with prizes<\/span> for all chapter members who complete the challenge and an even bigger prize for the first person to complete it in each chapter! <\/span><\/p>\n

TL;DR: Win prizes for going outside. <\/b><\/p>\n

This brand spankin’ new program will be launched in conjunction with Mappy Hour’s in different North Face stores around the country and is currently being rolled out in NYC, Chicago, Denver, Cleveland, Washington D.C. and Detroit. All our other wonderful chapters: we see you and you’re next! <\/span><\/p>\n

The Explore More Guides will live on the Mappy Hour community hub for all to use – so if you\u2019re new to a city or just visiting, hop over to the Explore More<\/a> section of our site to find 10 adventures curated by locals (aka our amazing chapter leaders). The first six guides will be launched through the month of September.<\/span><\/p>\n
