About

Description

Cottonwood Instiute is an award-winning 501(c)3 educational non-profit organization based in Denver, Colorado. Cottonwood Institute (CI) aims to inspire a new generation of 21st century leaders who are environmentally aware, civically engaged, and empowered to make a positive impact within their communities.

Cottonwood Institute collaborates with schools and youth organizations—primarily for middle and high school students—to provide high quality, high impact environmental education and service-learning programs.
The crux of the CI curriculum is the Action Project, in which students learn about local environmental issues and select one as a group to address. They then research and connect with local organizations working on the same issue and create their own community based solution to implement and make a positive change in their school or community. Along with that, all students in CI classes have the opportunity to attend at least one overnight camping trip and connect to the natural world around Denver, Colorado.

These classes, trips and projects all serve the Cottonwood Institute mission to connect underserved students to the outdoors and empower them to take action to improve their schools, the community, and the environment for future generations.

Cottonwood Institute has many amazing sponsors, including Maroon Bell who will be at the December 13th event! https://www.maroonbell.com/
