Full datetime event:Wednesday, April 4, 2018From 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
We all love New York City, nature and maps. These things are being brought together through a new app by the Natural Areas Conservancy and Mappy Hour members get to be among the first to actually see their newest project
Join us April 4 (new date!) at the famed Explorers Club (we'll also be taking a tour) to hear about the vision for the map that will help anyone with a smartphone find NYC's wetlands, forests, and trails. After the short talk, some will be able to beta test the app and give direct feedback to NAC on their redesign. (Check out the old one here: http://www.naturalareasnyc.org/map).
Did this get rescheduled?
Yes, there was a snowstorm
If I signed up for the March event am I automatically added to the April event?
Yes, we saved a spot for you! If you cannot make the new date please unregister so we can offer the spot to someone else.
Can everyone beta test the app
No. Because of the hands on nature of this process, beta testing the new map will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be clipboard at Mappy Hour and you'll be able to put your name on the list when you show up. Everyone's invited to hang and listen to the talk!
If I'd like to be a beta tester, how can I help NAC out?
Bring a laptop or tablet!
Will there be beer?
You know it! Sierra Nevada will be on-site with beer but there will be a nominal fee to help The Explorers Club cover the cost of hosting so many of us! Here's a note on how that's going to work:
A quick note about payment. Like most private clubs, The Explorers Club bar is usually reserved for members only, and accepts drink payments through member accounts. Members are then charged at the end of the month.
For Mappy Hour, you will need to do the same. This means creating a temporary account at the bar prior to your visit. To do so, please follow these three easy steps!
Call The Explorers Club at (212) 628-8383 prior to your visit, with your credit card or debit card information. The receptionist will be take down the information. It is important you do this before your arrival to streamline your experience. We can accommodate guests when they arrive, but registering in advance is highly recommended.
Check in at the Front Desk when you arrive on March 21st. The receptionist will confirm that you have an account.
3.The bartender will keep track of your tab and you will be charged at the end of the month by the Club's accounting department. You will receive your receipt via email.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Club at (212) 628-8383, or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
