Location

Roosevelt Island
We'll be meeting right at the base of the bridge leading on to Roosevelt Island. Several bike racks are available if you want to bike. The closest station is Rosslyn on the Orange, Silver, and Blue lines.

Description

Wherever you run in the DC area, you are running on Native land.

Please join Guarina Lopez, Indigenous activist, educator and artist from the Pascua Yaqui Tribe to learn about the lands you run, walk and live on. We will cover a brief history of the Piscataway tribe and their history here in the DMV, then learn about the history of Roosevelt Island and its relationship to Native communities and upholding enslavement. Lastly we will learn about the ecosystem on the island and how to be better informed of the land around us.

You can follow Guarina over on IG to learn more about her and all of her prodigious work: @guarinapalomalopez
