Description

In honor of Earth Month, Mappy Hour is focusing on sustainability for April. And what better way to act on sustainability than teaming up with Rock Creek Conservancy, the National Park Service, and Stream Team Leader Jonas Furberg for a litter removal restoration event in Rock Creek Park at Picnic Grove #1!

Trash is the visible form of stormwater pollution, a major threat to water quality and park health and its removal makes the parklands cleaner, safer, and more beautiful for all.

This event is part of the 2023 Extreme Cleanup, a month-long extravaganza in April. Cleanup events will be hosted throughout the entirety of the Rock Creek watershed, with volunteers across the watershed participating in litter cleanup events lasting 2-3 hours, helping to keep Rock Creek clean from the most visible form of stormwater pollution, enjoying time outside, and giving back to their local communities.

Because we're getting in on their programming this early in the game, they have graciously allowed MH to crash their event without a fee. As such, we have limited this event to 10 spots, so make sure to register asap!

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT YOU MUST REGISTER BOTH WITH MAPPY HOUR AND WITH ROCK CREEK CONSERVANCY SO THAT BOTH OF US KNOW TO EXPECT YOU.

Please read all of the information listed on their own event listing here: https://www.rockcreekconservancy.org/extreme-cleanup

Once you've done that, click the "Register Here" or "Tickets" button on the above page, or click this link to register on RCC's side: https://secure.everyaction.com/LQ33qhaJXUSSCIajE8TLQQ2

Remember that you will need to print and sign the NPS waiver and bring it with you to the event in addition to agreeing to RCC's Liability Waiver when registering.

Bring work gloves if you have them, as well as water, snacks, and anything else you would typically need for a morning outdoors. RCC will provide the rest. Please also dress appropriately.
