Description
Hello Denver Mappy Hour community! The time has finally arrived. We will host our first in-person event since March of 2020. Hope you are as excited as we are!
Just in time for our first in-person get together, we are pumped to share a viewing of the Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse and Colorado is lucky enough to have a front row seat. The full Moon will move into Earth’s dark central umbral shadow to cause a total lunar eclipse —a “Blood Moon”— briefly turning the lunar surface a reddish-copper color. Take a break from the light pollution in the Mile High City and meet us in Golden for a morning you don’t want to miss.
Event Timeline
3:44 am - Partial Eclipse begins
5:00 am - Mappy Hour team & community members arriving on-site
5:11 am - Full Eclipse begins
5:18 am - Maximum Eclipse
5:25 am - Full Eclipse ends

Location
We’ll meet at the baseball park off of 10th St, in between Maple St. and Illinois St. The baseball fields are just south of Lions Park. This location will provide the ideal viewing spot due to the lack of large trees and tall buildings. Here are the waypoints to enter in your maps app: 39°45'17.7"N 105°13'38.5"W
I know what you are thinking - this is what too early in the morning. Heck no am I driving out to Golden to see the Blood Moon on a Wednesday. Well, true to every Mappy Hour fashion, we will raffle off amazing prizes from our sponsors; The North Face and National Geographic. Let’s also not forget our sense of community within the Denver Mappy Hour chapter. While we will be implementing COVID safeguard practices, this is the perfect opportunity to meet new people who share similar interests as yourself; the great outdoors!

COVID-19 Safeguard Practices
Within the City of Golden, masks are not required outside. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask during the event, by all means do what makes you feel safe. During the eclipse viewing, we encourage those that don’t live within the same household to spread out a bit in the Park.
