Description

Join Melissa Goodwin, freelance photographer, Brooklynite and founder of Girl Gotta Hike as she presents a photography slideshow and talk about her first ever multi-night backpacking trip – a six-month, 2,181-mile long trek on the Appalachian Trail.

In 2011, Melissa accepted an invitation from her dad to keep him company “for a month or so” on his lifelong dream of hiking the AT. As soon as she started planning for it though, she knew she would be hiking the whole thing. During the hike, Melissa’s love for landscape photography was reinvigorated and her connection to the hiker community at large was born.

The friendships she made on trail with fellow female thru-hikers are some of those she cherishes most and were the inspiration for starting her guiding business and online community, Girl Gotta Hike. Q&A to follow slideshow.

Brews by Sierra Nevada of course!
