Wild Wilderness Women, Endangered Species Protection Network, and Mappy Hour are excited to join forces to bring to you a ‘Women in the Outdoors Panel.’

Come join us at Arc’teryx to hear from three amazing women who are contributing in unique ways to outdoor engagement, sustainability, and conservation and by doing so, increasing diversity and representation in these areas.

The Panel:
Dr. Jennie Miller - Senior Scientist at Defenders of Wildlife
Kate Judson - Emergency Management Specialist at FEMA
Sarah Boisen - Southeast Ambassador at SheJumps

We look forward to a lively discussion about increasing representation and how to be agents of positive change in the outdoor space. The panel will be preceded and followed by a social hour where you can meet representatives from local social and non-profit organizations working hard in this space.

There will be raffles and beer (thanks Sierra Nevada!) to help the conversations along.

Panel Bios:
Dr. Jennie Miller
Senior Scientist at Defenders of Wildlife
Jennie Miller is a wildlife ecologist and conservation scientist whose work focuses on understanding the socio-ecological drivers of human-wildlife interactions and developing tools for management and policy decision-makers to transform conflict into coexistence. She has worked in North America, Asia and Africa on a range of species, including wolves, tigers, leopards and lions. Jennie earned a Ph.D. in Ecology from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies and a B.A. in Organismal Biology from Claremont McKenna College.
Kate Judson
Emergency Management Specialist at FEMA
Kate Judson was most recently a Sustainability Program Analyst with the District Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE). In this role, Kate coordinated the implementation of the District’s 20-year sustainability plan, Sustainable DC (www.sustainabledc.org), across District government agencies and within DOEE. She was also responsible for coordinating the five-year update of the plan. Her work also focused on developing sustainability reporting metrics, communications and outreach, and fostering partnerships across diverse sectors.  In April, Kate will be starting a new job with FEMA helping regions become more resilient to the impacts of climate change post disasters. Kate received her BA in political science from Emory University and her MA in community planning from the University of Maryland College Park, where she concentrated her studies in environmental and land use planning. 
Sarah Boisen
Southeast Ambassador at SheJumps
Sarah Boisen is an Alaska-grown, East Coast transplant whose happy place manifests itself in countless forms that just so happen to be fused together by an infinite love for the humbling, great outdoors and a healthy dose of laughter. She firmly believes that seeking out and sharing in the challenges and feats that that outdoor engagement holds is the loveliest way to inspire one's confidence to bloom. Because of this, she is passionate about creating opportunities for others to realize their own potential and hosts outdoor education-based events that encourage females to get out, get after it and grow
