Description

Happy 2020 Mappy Hour Seattle!

Let's start this New Year off right with some winter adventure! Don't let winter stop you from getting outdoors. If you just want to breathe some alpine air and play in the snow, snowshoeing is a great option for you.

Join us at The North Face on Pike St. to hear from Forest Service representative, Colton Whitworth from the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, who will provide some ideas of where to go and what to consider, whether you're a snowshoeing pro, or are just beginning to experiment with the sport.

Additionally, we'll be launching the SEA Explore More Challenge with The North Face! More info coming soon, but be ready to learn about the fun local challenges to get some cool prizes from The North Face.

Expect beer from New Belgium Brewing and a chance to meet some cool folks to go snowshoeing this winter!

About Colton:

Colton Whitworth is an avid outdoor enthusiast who spent much of his youth skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing in and around Lake Tahoe. A recent Pacific Northwest Transplant, Colton has spent the last 8 years working for the Forest Service in several different roles. These roles included positions as a Natural Resource & Wildlife Specialist, a Public & Legislative Affairs Specialist, and as a Supervisor of Interpretative, Snow, Wilderness, & Field Rangers. Colton has led numerous backcountry snowshoe treks for groups of up to 30 people within the cascades. Most treks covered topics such as avalanche and backcountry safety, winter ecology, local wildlife, botany, and fundamentals of winter recreation and snowshoeing. Currently, Colton works with partners within the Seattle area to bring disabled veterans and under-represented youth groups to the forest to encourage healthy and positive experiences.
