FAQ:https://seattleboulderingproject.com/faq

What is bouldering?

Bouldering is rock climbing, without using ropes or harnesses, on climbs that don’t go too high off the ground. Our boulders are usually thirteen to fifteen feet tall, and the tallest ones are sixteen to seventeen feet. Outside, boulderers move small mats and pads under the climbs. In our gym, the entire floor is a giant, squishy pad.

Our boulders have problems. Problems are climbing routes on the boulders. They consist of a series of carefully-placed holds which you climb from start to finish.

Problems can be easy or really really hard. That’s what makes it fun.

My grandma, baby, spouse, isn't climbing...do they need a waiver?
Yes! Everyone going past the front desk will need a waiver on file, even if they are not climbing.

What should we bring?
We recommend wearing comfy clothes you can move in and bringing a water bottle. Climbing shoes provided with group rate.

How long can we stay?
You are welcome to stay as long as you'd like! Most groups stay around 2 hours. Depending on what the Mappy Hour group is comfortable with, we may check out Fremont Brewery or another nearby bar afterwards!

What happens day of?
Group participants should let the front desk know they are here with the Mappy Hour group. They will be checked in and fitted for climbing shoes. Once 80% of your group has arrived, staff will provide an orientation to the space and you'll be free to climb.

Health and Safety

via SBP website:

Starting October 25th, in accordance with the new King County mandate, we will be verifying proof of full Covid vaccination or a negative Covid test taken within 72 hours from a King County approved source, for everyone over 12 who comes to the gym.

Here’s how this is going to work:

• The front desk is ready to verify your proof of vaccination anytime. A picture of your vaccination card on your phone works great if you don’t carry your paper card.

• We can put a note on your account that we’ve verified your proof of vaccination, so that you only have to show your card once. If you don’t want us to record your vaccination status, that’s cool too, and you can show proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test whenever you visit.

Valid forms of proof of vaccination acceptable to King County are:

— Vaccination card

— Photo of vaccination card

— Record from MyIRmobile.com or other app

— Printed record from vaccine provider or MyIRmobile.com

Covid tests that are acceptable to King County are:

— A negative FDA-approved molecular test (also called a PCR test), or a negative FDA-approved antigen test (also called a rapid test)

— Documentation of your negative test must be from a testing agent such as a laboratory, health care provider, or pharmacy

Please Note:

— Self-administered rapid tests (also called a home test) are NOT accepted by King County

Fun-filled send sessions with all of your friends are on the other side of the front desk. Get your proof verified soon to avoid some anticipated lines once the mandate takes effect. See you in the gym!
