Mappy Hour

Mappy Hour was more than just a meetup: it was a movement. Born in 2014 as a simple gathering in NYC of outdoor lovers around maps, stories, and beer, it grew into a vibrant community in 19 cities where urban dwellers celebrated their passion for nature and adventure. Over the years, Mappy Hour became a beloved space where hikers, climbers, cyclists, and curious explorers shared experiences, inspired one another, and transformed cities into gateways to the wild. Dozens of local leaders stepped up to host chapters and thousands of participants joined Mappy Hour’s monthly events to hear from expert speakers, volunteer at local preserves and go for a backyard hike or camping trip. By bringing people together in cities across North America, Mappy Hour created an accessible entry point to outdoor recreation. Its impact is reflected in the lasting networks and shared experiences it helped cultivate.

The Mappy Hour Manifesto

Our manifesto highlights the big picture principles that infuse all of the programming we plan, and the expectations we have for the people joining our community.

What is a Mappy Hour?

Our signature meetups happened monthly in cities across North America from a brewery in Cleveland to a lake in Seattle or a flagship retail store in NYC where we gathered outdoor enthusiasts around maps, guidebooks, beer, and adventure stories.
