In Our Own Backyard: Wild Climbs in the Rocky Mountains.
We often fantasize about climbing in far flung places like Alaska or the Himalaya. But there’s plenty of adventure to be found - sometimes too much of it! - right on our doorstep. While I have spent much time and money traveling to remote mountain ranges, many of my most memorable climbs have happened right here, in the Rockies. I will be sharing some stories and images from what is an underrated world-class mountain arena.
About Raphael
Raphael Slawinski has been rock, ice and alpine climbing for more than a quarter of a century. In addition to many adventures in his home Rocky Mountains, he has also made seven expeditions to Alaska and five to the Himalaya. When not climbing, he's married with cats and a physics professor at Mount Royal University in Calgary.
