Description
On Friday July 12th, Mappy Hour is teaming up with National Park Service for a night on the beach. Join us for NPS Presents: Campfire Fridays from 7:00-10:00PM at Riis Park Beach Bazaar. Mappy Hour will be leading a talk on campfire culture (reach out to us if you'd like to help lead!) and we'll all enjoy the glow of the campfire with the sounds of the waves in our ears ?. Plus, s'mores provided by the Jamaica Bay Rockaway Parks Conservancy (http://www.jbrpc.org/)!
We're also facilitating a bike train for an active option to get there. If you love bikes and can skip out of work a little early, join us at 5:00PM under the Soldier's & Sailor's Arch in Grand Army Plaza and we'll ride to the beach together. Note: this is city riding, not suitable for beginners. HELMETS REQUIRED.
How to Get there:
- Bike! We're meeting at 5:00PM at Grand Army (see above)
- Ferry ($2.75/one way)
Hop on the NYC Ferry in Lower Manhattan or in Sunset Park and take it to the Rockaway Ferry Terminal at Beach 108th Street. From there, take the free shuttle to Beach 169th Street (weekdays) - Bus ($2.75)
The Q35 runs from Brooklyn to Riis Park.
