Description

This fireside chat with NYC based teacher and outdoor enthusiast Julie McGuire explores the power of nature to heal, progressing from beginner to mentor and balancing living in the city and loving the outdoors.

Julie is a born and raised New Yorker who became passionate about skiing in her twenties after a breakup. In 2018, after her marriage ended, she took up backcountry skiing and deepened her relationship to the mountains. She became a Catskill 3500 Club member, has done major tours on 4 continents including the Haute Route Alps, has her AIARE 1 and 2 certifications, and loves showing people that the Catskills should not be underestimated in what they can offer skiers and mountaineers. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others, so that they can experience the same joy and healing power that the mountains have provided her.

All donations tonight will go to SheJumps, a national nonprofit with the mission to increase women and girls' participation in outdoor activities.

This event is part of our International Women's Day Series celebrating and honoring women in the outdoors and part of our winter long backcountry skiing series sponsored by our friends at Sierra Nevada Brewing.

Bonus: Our friends at FATMAP are offering all registered attendees a one-month FATMAP Explore membership
