DEN: Tips for Wilderness Prevention in the Backcountry

Last week, Mappy Hour Denver gathered at The North Face Cherry Creek to learn wilderness medicine and risk management from NOLS. The very talented instructor, Denani Schmitt, informed members on how to evaluate an accident, clean a cut and splint a break in the backcountry. An additional thank you goes to our beer sponsor: Crazy Mountain Brewing.

We were also excited to see members joining in the Colorado Explore Challenge which launched last month. From skiing in the summer to visiting a local hot spring, we’re teaming up with The North Face to challenge all of YOU to get outdoors. Plus, you’ll be able to win prizes.

More about NOLS: The nonprofit global wilderness school seeks to help you step forward boldly as a leader. Anyone can be a leader; NOLS provides the environment and training to help you discover your full potential. Lessons are taught in classrooms close to home and in remote wilderness areas around the world. They’re an organization with heart, expertise, and wildness. These qualities help them support powerful, authentic experiences.
