NYC December Mappy Hour Recap

Though it’s been an extremely slow start to winter here on the Northeast, our most recent NYC Mappy Hour still celebrated the oncoming winter with maps, talks and dreams of skiing and riding.

We had hundreds of trail maps to pore over, stories from shredders who had been everywhere from Japan to Jackson Hole and of course delicious brews to relax with.

The night started out with a bit of shopping during the STOKED Mentoring Sample Sale (profits going to their board sports programming). We next heard from Antonia of STOKED Mentoring. She spoke about the work that STOKED does in NYC with local youth – mentoring them through skate boarding, snowboarding and surfing.

Antonia of STOKED speaks on the non-profits work with the local community.

Next up Jamie of OvR  spoke about finding community on the mountains and his company’s myriad trips throughout the world.

Then we heard from the crowd. Everyone shared their dream locations as well as the personal expertise they could share with the group and then we returned to hanging out, checking out maps, and enjoying the local outdoors community in NYC.
