Beautiful summer nights call for outdoor Mappy Hours so this month we gathered on Pier 84 where the night started off with an SUP intro class for those able to make it out of work on time to paddle.
After class, we transformed the boathouse into Mappy Hour central, laying nametags out on a SUP board and filling up a kayak with our favorite brews from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.
After everyone settled in, grabbed a beer, and watched an amazing sunset our speakers for the night the Atlantic SUPergirls began their talk. Instead of a formal presentation, paddlers Jules & LouAnne did a more informal Q&A chat answering questions on how far they paddled, how they carried their gear, and how they handled bay crossings during their multi-month expedition from NYC to Miami.
Afterwards, we kept the night going, splitting up into adventure corners to talk about paddling locally on the Delaware Water Gap, open water swimming, circumnavigating Long Island and finding international whitewater. We finished the night announcing our Instagram contest winner, @r2reetu who’s winning photo is posted below.
