Four years ago, 40 people came together for the first ever Mappy Hour in NYC. We didn’t have speakers or themes at the beginning, just a requirement to gain admission through a map and a six pack. The event filled up to capacity (with a waitlist) and even the NY Times City Room Blog was excited about it! Here are a few of the highlights. Comments are open if you’d like to share your favorite memories!

Local Leadership Growing Local Communities
As Mappy Hour expanded beyond New York City, new leaders emerged who have defined a vision and started growing robust communities in their own cities. Here are our current Mappy leaders (you can follow them here).
And of course shout-outs to our “retired” leaders and POP UP event hosts:
Luke Pipkin | Mary Macon Price | Nina Schuchman | Silvie Snow Thomas | Marc Cassone | David Mayer | Abigail Wise | Lauren Olinsky | Jesi Hessong | Dominic Bonaduce
Mappy Hour’s have taken place in all sorts of locations from a boat to a rooftop to a climbing gym to breweries to city parks.
Incredible Speakers
We’ve had so many ridiculously awesome speakers (see our 2017 list here) and we’re currently working on creating a page to highlight them all – stay tuned! (Also, a few videos can be found on our YouTube Channel).
Mappy Hour would not be without the support of a few key brands that really believed in our mission and helped us make it happen. These brands include:
Arc’teryx/Salomon | Best Made | Columbia Sportswear| Filson | Lowa | Paragon Sports | The North Face | Sierra Nevada | Snow Peak | United By Blue
