Surf's up on The Great Lakes of Michigan.

Join us for a Q&A with Ella and Annabel Skrocki, sister surfers from northern Michigan, who will share what it's like to ride freshwater waves – winter, summer, spring, and fall. We'll talk about their environmentalism efforts to protect the world's largest freshwater system in the world, we'll discuss safety tips and how to stay warm in frigid temps, and we'll also learn from Ella/Annabel about what makes Michigan's surf culture so unique.

This event kicks-off Mappy Hour's International Women's Day series with The North Face which runs throughout the month of March. Find the full list of events here.

Check out Ella/Annabel's family surf shop, Sleeping Bear Surf & Kayak (in Empire, MI), and follow them on Instagram at:

We also encourage you to watch these awesome Great Lakes surf videos:

"Serendipitous: The Story of Sleeping Bear Surf & Kayak" – a short documentary about Ella/Annabel and their family business.

"SToNeY Steamer" – a quick video shared by Vonnie Wilkie, a local Minnesota-based surfer, featuring surfers on the coast of Lake Superior.
