Join us in-person at my house, or virtually via the Google Meet link above, for a 90-minute information session and guided lottery entry for Enchantments overnight permits.

What are the Enchantments?

The Enchantments is a world-famous hiking and backpacking destination in Washington state. Located between Leavenworth and Snoqualmie Pass in the Cascades mountain range.

The Enchantments is a difficult hike, so it is not ideal for beginners. Participants should already know how to read trail maps, hike 10-20 miles of trail in a day, and own their own backpacking gear.

Why do I need a permit, and how do I get one?

Due to overwhelming demand, and limited group size, the park service uses a permit system to control how many people can camp overnight in the Enchantments.

These permits are randomly assigned through a lottery via the following website: https://www.recreation.gov/permits/233273

Between February 15th and March 1st, each individual can enter for up to 3 summer season permits, for groups up to 8 people, for backpacking trips up to 14 days.

What is a lottery pool?

A lottery pool is where multiple people enter a lottery, and if anyone wins, we share the prize with the group.

In this case, we enter the Enchantments lottery as individuals, and hope to share any spots with each other if we win!

What is a draft?
Like fantasy football, a draft is where a group meets together to make choices around their first choice backpacking dates, trailheads, routes, and other plans.

We can use the draft time to help navigate the website, and answer FAQs.

In-person attendees are encouraged to either bring snacks and drinks to share, or donate $10 to the organizers.
